About

Help Me Help lets users browse verified charitable organizations fetched from Innsamlingskontrollen, search and filter by cause area, and register donations. The application stores user profiles and donation history in a local SQLite database.

This project was developed for the course IDATT1005 — Systemutvikling (BIDATA) at NTNU Trondheim, Spring 2026.

Installation

git clone https://git.ntnu.no/<repository>/idatt1005_2026_24.git
cd idatt1005_2026_24

Running the Application

mvn javafx:run

On first startup, the database is created automatically in the data/ folder.

Running Tests

mvn test

Architecture

The application follows a layered MVC architecture:

Views (JavaFX FXML) → Controllers → Registers → SQLite

ui/ — JavaFX views and controllers handle user interaction
registers/ — contain business logic for organizations and donations
util/ — database access (UserDatabase, DonationDatabase) and password hashing
model/ — plain data objects
