What and why

Technical base for the project, kept minimal until the dataset and database are chosen.

• frontend/: Vite + React + TS template with the demo removed. Vitest + Testing Library with one test. base: '/project2/' for Apache on the VM. System fonts, visible focus and reduced-motion base styles.
• backend/: Apollo Server (standalone) on port 3001 with a placeholder hello query and an API test via executeOperation. Node runs the .ts files directly (type stripping, Node >= 22.18), so there is no build step.
• Root: npm workspaces (one npm install), Prettier, oxlint, and a CI workflow running lint, format check, typecheck, tests and build on every PR.
• CLAUDE.md: repo layout, commands, stack decisions, and a new rule that agents only commit locally and push when asked (also enforced as a permission prompt in .claude/settings.json).

Notes for review:

• Linter: oxlint instead of ESLint, since the Vite template now ships it and the assignment only asks for linting.
• Apollo Server: this settles part of Choose database and backend libraries #3; the database is still open.
• Deferred: the database, a GraphQL client / state library and an E2E tool wait for the dataset decision (Choose dataset and domain for the catalog #2, Choose database and backend libraries #3).
• CI: if Actions is not enabled on git.ntnu.no, the workflow simply won't run.

How to test

1. npm install
2. npm test, npm run lint, npm run format:check, npm run typecheck, npm run build
3. npm run dev:backend, then curl -X POST localhost:3001 -H 'content-type: application/json' -d '{"query":"{ hello }"}'
4. npm run dev:frontend and open the printed URL

AI usage

Scaffolding and config were generated with Claude Code, starting from the official Vite template. The author reviewed all files before committing and ran every check locally.
