+# Use of AI in this project
+
+Most of this project has been developed with the help of AI coding
+assistants, primarily Claude Code and GitHub Copilot. Not every part of the
+codebase was AI-assisted, as some of it was written entirely by hand.
+
+Every suggestion from an AI assistant has been reviewed by a team member before being accepted, and
+adjusted to fit our own code style, requirements, and understanding. AI
+suggestions are a starting point, not a final answer. We have not commit code
+we do not understand.

+## Tools used
+
+Different team members used different AI tools, according to personal
+preference, rather than a single shared workflow:
+
+- **Claude Code** — used by some team members for tasks such as building
+  components, wiring features together, debugging, writing tests, and
+  reviewing code.
+- **GitHub Copilot** — used by other team members for in-editor suggestions
+  while writing code.
+- Other AI tools (for example Gemini) have occasionally been used for
+  specific, isolated snippets.
+
+## Citing individual AI-generated snippets
+
+Where a specific, non-trivial piece of code came directly from an AI tool's
+output, rather than being an edited or adapted suggestion, we note it inline
+with a short comment above the code, naming the tool, the date, and the
+prompt used. For example, from `src/components/Favorites.tsx`:
