Installation Manual

Prerequisites

Make sure the following are installed on your machine before proceeding:

• Java JDK 25
• Maven
• IntelliJ IDEA

Getting the Code

Clone the repository by running the following command in your terminal:

git clone https://git.ntnu.no/IDATT1005-2026-02/IDATT1005_2026_2.git

Or download the project as a ZIP from GitHub by clicking Code -> Download ZIP, then extract it to a folder on your machine.

Opening the Project

1. Open IntelliJ IDEA
2. Click File -> Open and select the HelpMeHelp folder
3. IntelliJ will detect the Maven project and download all dependencies automatically

Running the Application

1. In the top corner of IntelliJ, open the run configurations dropdown and add new configuration
2. Select the mvn configuration
3. Add the javafx:run in the command line and click OK
4. Then click the Run button

The application should launch and the login screen will appear.

Database

The application uses SQLite as its database. No setup is required and the database file is created automatically the first time the application is run.
